SpinPower.Org January 2010 Update
January 2010

A couple of weeks ago there was a terrible tragedy in Haiti, an earthquake with such devastation that unless you live under a rock you have to know about it. I want to help any way I can and it occurred to me that I have a way to help - power. Even a small amount of power can bring some light and pump or heat water to make life more sustainable and barable for survivors.

Like many of you who may read this, I have my own issues that limit my ability to help financially. I have been beaten up with the housing crisis and have no savings but I count my lucky stars I can keep food on the table. I know I am one of the lucky ones. However, I would still like to send turbines to Haiti and help with the relief effort.

As this turbine has had a few very minor glitches in the mass production process that we want to perfect, a year has slipped by. The fact is, the turbine works great! We are holding to perfectionist values and quite possibly need to let this machine into the world sooner than later. A lot of good can be done with the current version.

If I can raise enough money, I would like to send 100,000 units to Haiti. The turbines currently cost $1500.00 USD each and produce over 100 watts of fully loaded current! This is very high for a turbine in this size group, (micro) and as this class of turbine is usually rated as un-loaded or open circuit, that is well over 1000 watts!

With batteries added to the package, even more good can be done. As the wind does not blow all the time, batteries allow greater flexibility and access to the power generated. Even the average American home in a windy area would be able to offset their power use with only 3 or 4 of these with an appropriate size battery bank incorporated. For direct or battery buffered power use, no electrician is required and no ground drilling or excavation either. These can be assembled by one person and placed in a windy spot. They require guide wires for tethering to the ground with very sturdy stakes, however one person with a large rock or mallet can accomplish this. This means the aid workers in Haiti and the Haitian people are capable of setting these up quickly and without a special task force.

I am just an individual with a huge potential to help. Please help me reach out and help the world. This is a massive undertaking and I need all the expertise and funding I can get if this is to be accomplished.
